Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long is each concert?
Each concert program varies in length. The Masterworks, Pops!, Home for the Holidays, and Chamber concerts run approximately two hours. The family concerts run one to one and one half hours which allows young children to fully enjoy the program.

2. What age to children have to be to attend?
Children over the age of 6 are welcome to attend all SBSO performances. Child discounts are available to all children, ages 0-18, at just $5 per child. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend our Family concerts and the Home for the Holidays concerts.

3. What is the dress code?
As a general guideline, dress at symphonic performances is casual to dressy.

4. Where is the best place to sit during the concert?
This is based on your personal preference. Both main floor and balcony seating allow excellent listening and viewing.

5. Is each facility handicapped accessible?
Yes, each venue is handicapped accessible. At the Morris Performing Arts Center, there is an elevator and listening devices are available.

6. How do I become a subscriber?

Simply call the South Bend Symphony Orchestra at (574)232-6343 or (888)316-4674 and a season brochure will be mailed to you. A representative is also available to talk to you about the different subscription packages available. It is possible to subscriber via phone, fax or mail.

7. How do I become a donor?
Contact a representative from the development staff at (574)232-6343 or (888)316-4674 to discuss the benefits of becoming a donor.

8. How can we purchase single tickets and where do we pick them up?
Single tickets (for all concerts no matter where they are being performed) can be purchased at the Morris Performing Arts Center Box Office by phone, web-site (www.MorrisCenter.org), or in person. The box office number is (574)235-9190 or (800)537-6415. A representative will then place your order and then will either mail your tickets or hold them for you at will call for pick up. Based on preference, tickets can be either be picked up during box office hours or at the concert hall one hour before the performance. The Morris Performing Arts Center Box Office is open Monday – Friday from 10am – 6pm and on Saturday from 10am – 2pm. The box office located at 211 North Michigan Street in downtown South Bend. You may also purchase tickets at the performance venue one hour and a half hours before the concert.

9. Can I purchase gift certificates to a concert?
Gift certificates can be purchased through the Morris Performing Arts Center Box Office and must be redeemed within one year of the date they were purchased.

10. Are there exchanges / refunds available?
Exchanges are only available to subscribers. There are no refunds available on subscription or single ticket purchases.

11. What are the benefits of being a subscriber?
Subscribers receive priority seating when subscribing to the SBSO. There is ticket exchange flexibility, guaranteed seating to each concert of the season, tax-deductible donations for returned tickets, and lost tickets are replaced free of charge. Subscribers also receive "The Tsung Times" newsletter and are invited to a FREE open rehearsal.

12. Is there a senior citizen discount?
We offer a $2 discount on single tickets to all SBSO concerts (with the exception of the Home for the Holidays concert) for any individual over the age of 65.

13. How do I get on the mailing list?
A representative at the South Bend Symphony (574)232-6343 or (888)316-4674 can add you to the mailing list or signup online.

14. What are the hours the box office is open?
The box office is open Monday – Friday from 10am – 6pm and on Saturday from 10am – 2pm. They are also open one and a half hours prior to the concert start time.

15. Are there discounts for large groups?
Groups of 10 or more receive a 25% discount. Just call the box office (574)235-9190 or (800)537-6415 and mention your groups size to save!
